The Pilates Center for Fitness & Therapeutics was founded in 2002 by Mary-Jane Bell Amrein. Centrally located in Williamsburg, Virginia, our 3200 square foot studio has all of the latest equipment as well as a Far Infared Sauna. We specialize in personal one-on-one pilates instruction and Muscle Activation Technique. In addition to one-on-one, we offer “duets” and “trios” as well as Reformer group classes. Our mission is to improve the health and fitness of our clients through education of our staff and clients. We treat staff and clients with honesty and integrity and provide exceptional customer service.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and certified Pilates Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in Pilates principles and have experience teaching a range of clients, from beginners to advanced practitioners. This individual should be enthusiastic about promoting the benefits of Pilates and creating a positive and inclusive environment for students to thrive.

Responsibilities:

    Provide personalized individual Pilates sessions with clients and accommodate various fitness levels and abilities.
    Conduct group Pilates classes in accordance with the studio's schedule and curriculum.
    Demonstrate proper techniques and alignment to ensure safe and effective workouts.
    Motivate and inspire students to reach their fitness goals while fostering a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.
    Offer hands-on adjustments and feedback to help clients improve their form and maximize their results.
    Stay informed about current trends and developments in the fitness industry, particularly in Pilates methodology and techniques.
    Help maintain a clean and organized studio space.

Ideal Qualifications:

    Certification from a recognized Pilates training program (e.g., Balanced Body, STOTT Pilates, Peak Pilates).
    Experience teaching Pilates classes, especially individuals
    Proficiency in various Pilates equipment, including reformers, cadillacs, chairs, and barrels.
    Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate clients.
    Passion for health, wellness, and helping others achieve their fitness goals.
    Ability to adapt to different teaching styles and modify exercises as needed to meet individual needs.
    Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor.

If Not Certified:

    We do hire non-certified staff — provided they will commit to working with us. In turn we will spend considerable time and effort training, so you are not only thoroughly versed and capable in pilates, but also able to qualify for certification. It’s an extensive process, and when we train pilates techniques, we include all aspects of working with clients in a personable, friendly manner to help you succeed in your career. Please understand, we only train instructors who will work at The Pilates Center.
    Your initial cost to start our training would be to purchase videos and manuals. Then one-on-one training with an instructor is the next major focus, which is where you learn the fundamentals and the functions of each piece of Pilates equipment. Free practice would be provided on our equipment, and would include observations of instructors. Participation in group classes is also key to your development, and is provided at no charge. Once you have completed our training program, you will be fully prepared to sit for the National Pilates Certification.
